GILLETTE, Wyo. — An upper low situated over southeast Montana will generate dry and gusty winds across the region today.
In the wake of Tuesday’s cold front, temperatures will be down compared to last week. By this coming weekend, highs will be limited to the mid-60s. Dry weather is expected for the remainder of the week, save for a 20% chance this afternoon into this evening, before rain chances enter the forecast again this weekend.
The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, has forecast a high today of 72 under mostly sunny skies. Winds will come from the southwest at 22–29 mph with gusts reaching 44 mph. The 20% chance for rain will last from 1 to 10 p.m., after which winds will die down to 13–21 mph. Gusts of 33 mph will still be possible, according to the forecast.
Thursday and Friday will both be sunny, with Thursday’s high forecast at 72 and Friday’s at 78. Windy conditions will persist with gusts of up to 25 mph Thursday and gusts of up to 21 mph Friday. Sustained wind speeds will be between 8 and 15 mph both days. Thursday night’s low will be near 46. Friday’s will be around 43 degrees.
