CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A 58-year-old Colorado man died in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 25 early Sunday morning. The crash occurred at milepost 20.8, just outside of Cheyenne.

The driver, Kevin Bathauer, was northbound in a Ford Fusion when his vehicle suddenly exited the roadway around 1 a.m., according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The car veered off to the right and slid down the shoulder, passing through a right-of-way fence.

Bathauer’s car became airborne after it went through the fence, traveling roughly 89 feet before landing on the driver’s side. The vehicle overturned multiple times before coming to rest upright. Bathauer, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car during the rollover.

First responders pronounced Bathauer dead at the scene. Investigators believe a medical condition may have contributed to the crash. The weather was clear, and road conditions were dry at the time of the incident.
