GILLETTE, Wyo. — Expect increasing cloud cover today as an upper low moves in from Montana, bringing the potential for storms on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, is calling for a high of 88. That will come with south winds at 11–14 mph with gusts reaching 23 mph. Those breezy conditions will continue into tonight under partly cloudy skies. The forecast low is 56.
Tuesday will begin with sunshine and a high near 83 degrees, but clouds will gather as a cold front approaches, bringing a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The wind will also pick up, shifting to the southwest at 10–15 mph and gusting at up to 34 mph by the afternoon.
Cooler air will hang around, keeping temps in the low 70s for the rest of the week. Temps will dip further into the 60s during the weekend. That will come with storm chances all weekend long.
