GILLETTE, Wyo. — Meteorologists advise Campbell County residents to limit outdoor activities until late this morning as haze from nearby and neighboring wildfires diminishes air quality.
The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, issued an air quality alert, in effect through 11 a.m. The elderly, young children and those with respiratory issues are particularly vulnerable and may experience difficulty breathing outside. Haze is expected to linger through about 3 p.m., according to the forecast.
Today’s forecast calls for a high of 72 as skies remain sunny. Winds should come from the west but will become northerly this afternoon. Tonight’s skies should also be mostly clear as the low falls to around 45 degrees.
