GILLETTE, Wyo. — Yellowstone National Park has released visitor data from the month of August, and numbers are up slightly from August of last year.
According to the press release, the park saw 871,163 recreation visitors this August, up 3% from last year. Like year-over-year figures, though, the post-COVID visitation boom in 2021 kept figures from that year above those from 2024.
This month had a 5% drop compared to August 2021, which had a total of 921,844 recreation visits. Visitation in 2021 overall also peaked compared to the following years with just shy of 3.6 million visitors to the park.
The National Park Service keeps detailed records of a variety of visitor statistics, along with traffic and camping data throughout the parks, on its website.
