GILLETTE, Wyo. — In a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon, the Campbell County Fire Department announced evacuation orders related to a new fire start near the Montana border.
Campbell County residents living in the Border Line Estates and Ranchets are advised to evacuate, given that current wind conditions make it difficult to determine what direction the fire will move as it continues to grow.
The fire, named the Short Draw Fire, is currently around 200 acres but is “growing rapidly,” CCFD said. The fire is bordered by Olmstead Road to the south, Bayhorse Road to the west and Bowers Ute Road to the east, and has passed the boundary of Campbell County across to the Montana border to the north.
Firefighting equipment from the county as well as Montana is being dispatched to handle the fire. More information and updates on the fire will be released as they become available.
