School board approves contract with Scholastic for elementary Book Fairs

The bright yellow signs in every school zone, like this one at Lakeview elementary School, are there for the safety of everyone. The Gillette Police Department will be monitoring all school zones with more presence as many violations have been reported through the first week of school (RJ Morgan/County 17).

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Elementary schools in the Campbell County School District will be getting Scholastic Book Fairs for another year after the district board approved several contracts Tuesday.

In its meeting on Tuesday evening, the Campbell County School Board approved contracts for Rawhide, Lakeview and Prairie Wind Elementary schools to host a Scholastic Book Fair. Specific dates for the fairs were not mentioned, but the board approved fairs to occur in the next year for all schools.

Per the contracts, the company would supply books and educational materials for each sale, along with planning resources and a “Set Up and Kickoff Kit” of promotional materials. Fairs also allow schools to keep a significant percentage of the sale profits for their schools.

An iconic event in American schools, the Scholastic Book Fair has been providing popular books to students for over 40 years. According to Scholastic’s website, the program has provided over 100 million books and materials to over 28 million children in the last year.
