GILLETTE, Wyo. — A red flag warning is going into effect on Monday in the Gillette area as unusually warm temperatures, dry conditions and gusty winds return.
According to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, Monday and Tuesday will see highs around 90 degrees, with haze from area wildfires settling in. Wind gusts of up to 21 mph are likely on Monday and overnight, calming on Tuesday before returning in the evening.
There are chances of afternoon thunderstorms.
Wednesday and Thursday will be partly sunny with highs in the upper 80s and gusty winds near 30 mph.
Friday will be cooler with a high of 75 degrees. The weekend will again see a warming trend as highs climb into the mid-80s by Sunday.
