GILLETTE, Wyo. — The City of Gillette will hold a public meeting later this month regarding a potential grant application from the Council of Community Services for a $1.5 million renovation project.
The city says the public meeting will take place at noon on Sept. 25 in the second-floor Engineering Conference Room at City Hall, 201 E. 5th St. The meeting will allow interested community members to express views, comments and recommendations on the potential sponsorship of CCS’s proposed grant application.
According to the city, the proposed grant request seeks $1.5 million in funding from the Community Development Block Grant Program overseen by the Wyoming Community Development Authority.
The WCDA will accept applications for the CDBG Program until 5 p.m. Sept. 27 and anticipates having nearly $8 million available for housing-related activities in Wyoming, per the city. The funds can be used for acquisition, homeownership assistance, rehabilitation, publicly owned infrastructure, clearance of sites, new construction of public facilities and planning-only activities.
At least three-quarters of activities must directly benefit low- and moderate-income persons, or those at 50% and 80% of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Area Median Income, respectively.
Interested residents are invited to the public meeting to participate in the process and provide comments in support of or in opposition to the CCS’s potential grant applications. Comments may be submitted in writing before the meeting, per the city.
