GILLETTE, Wyo. — Night sky enthusiasts will have a prime viewing opportunity this weekend with a stargazing event announced at Keyhole State Park.
The stargazing event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 7 to 10 p.m. at site #42 in the Homestead Campground, according to Keyhole State Park, which says the location is a perfect spot for viewing the night sky in a clear area away from trees and light pollution.
Per Keyhole State Park, both the moon and Saturn will be visible that night and Astronomer Michele Wistisen, formerly with the Casper Planetarium, will join park staff for the event, providing telescopes and other equipment for an unforgettable experience.
The event includes a kids portion from 7 to 8 p.m. with activities and information geared toward younger attendees, Keyhole State Park says, adding that the typical stargazing portion will run from 8 to 10 p.m.
