City of Gillette seeking applicants for Historic Preservation Commission

GILLETTE, Wyo. — The City of Gillette has put out a call for volunteers for a Citizen Advisory Board dedicated to preserving the area’s history.

In a press release on Tuesday, the city announced it is seeking applicants for the Gillette Historic Preservation Commission. Founded in 2015, the commission must have at least three members, one of which is a professional in a field related to historical preservation.

All members must have an interest in the subject, as the group focuses on the “protection, enhancement, and perpetuation of significant historical, archeological, and architectural relics within the City of Gillette and the surrounding area,” according to the press release. Members meet once every fourth Monday. The commission has one seat available, which has a three-year term limit ending in 2027.

Those interested are asked to be able to provide materials showing their qualifications, such as a résumé, in their applications. Applications can be accessed online or in person at the Administration office on the third floor of the Gillette City Hall, located at 201 E. 5th St. Applications are due by 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.
