Campbell County Fire Dept. Report (9/1/24)

GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County Fire Department responded to the following incidents on Sunday, Sept. 1:

  • At 12:05 a.m. to South Douglas Highway for a fire alarm activation.
  • At 4:45 a.m. to Green Avenue for an emergency medical response.
  • At 10:04 a.m. to Bitter Creek Road for a grass fire. The fire has been named the Silver Spoon Fire and is estimated at 1,000 acres. Evacuations have been put in place for residents near Bitter Creek Road. Multiple CCFD, Campbell County Road and Bridge, private and federal resources are on the scene. There has been substantial aviation support on the fires and the support will continue today. The fire will transition to the Southwest Team 5 Complex Incident Management Team tomorrow. Southwest Team 5 is the same team managing the Flat Rock Fire, Constitution Fire, House Draw Fire and Remington Fire.
  • At 10:21 a.m. to South Douglas Highway for an emergency medical response.
  • At 12:50 p.m. to East Boxelder Road for a fire alarm activation.
  • At 2:33 p.m. to Tower Road for a grass fire. The fire burned 15 acres. Seven firefighters were assisted by several local workmen.
  • At 7:12 p.m. to Silver Spur Lane for an emergency medical response.
  • At 8:17 p.m. to Tepee Street for an unauthorized controlled burn.
  • At 8:33 p.m. to North Highway 59 for the top of a coal silo on fire. The coal silo embers also ignited a grass fire that was heavily wind driven. CCFD and mine personnel worked to contain the grass fire and to extinguish the silo fire. Personnel are continuing to work the incident today.   • At 10:40 p.m. to Hannum Road for an emergency medical response.
