GILLETTE, Wyo. — Announcing a collaborative effort with Shell USA, local Shell Food Marts will look to support Shop with a Cop this fall to drive positive change in Gillette.
Starting Sept. 1 and ending Oct. 31, a portion of consumer purchases made at designated Giving Pumps at one of two Shell Food Mart locations in Gillette will support Shop with a Cop, according to an Aug. 26 press release.
Shop with a Cop is an annual event where local law enforcement officers shop with community children in need, per the City of Gillette, which says the Gillette Police Department has been involved with the program for over 30 years.
According to the Shell Food Mart press release, the event gives children a chance to see the softer side of law enforcement officers.
The Giving Pumps will be specially marked with purple signage at participating Shell gas stations to inspire consumers to support Shop with a Cop when fueling their vehicles, the release states, adding that there will be no additional costs.
In Gillette, the Shell Food Marts are the only locally owned and operated convenience stores; both locations have been open for over 20 years and support many local organizations including the Boys and Girls Clubs of Campbell County and 4-H, per the release.
Nationwide, nearly 7,500 Shell stations are participating in the two-month Giving Pump initiative to support 552 local charities. Since 2021, Shell wholesalers and retailers have donated almost $8 million to over 700 charities through the Giving Pump, according to the release.
