C17 Crime Clips for Friday, Aug. 23

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Aug. 22, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

Intoxication, Aug. 22, Rockpile Boulevard, GPD

Officers responded to the American Legion just after 6 p.m. Thursday evening for a report of a disturbance caused by a 73-year-old man, who also refused to leave the bar. Upon arrival, officers were told the man had urinated on the floor inside before leaving on foot. When he left, walking west, the man was barefoot and wearing only his boxers. Officers made contact with the man outside his residence, which was nearby. Visibly intoxicated, he told officers he was locked out of his home as his keys were last known to be in his pants, which were no longer with him. The man didn’t know where the pants were, and he was arrested for public intoxication. He was also verbally trespassed from the American Legion.

Battery, Boxelder Road, Aug. 22, GPD

Officers responded to the Pizza Hut on Boxelder Road after a 44-year-old male employee reported an altercation. The incident occurred between him and a manager, a 50-year-old man, over a workplace dispute. The employee reported the manager had bumped him in the chest and yelled profanities at him while telling him to leave the property, which he did not. Another employee, a 40-year-old woman, reported that the male employee was the aggressor and started a fight over a mistake he perceived the 50-year-old to be at fault for. He was cited for breach of peace.

Traffic Accident, Aug. 23, CCSO

An 18-year-old man driving a 2018 white Dodge Ram rolled the truck near Montgomery Road and Family Road early Friday morning. Both the driver and four passengers — two 19-year-old men and two female passengers aged 19 and 17 — were all wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. Deputies learned upon arriving to the scene the driver had been traveling at 60 mph around a turn in the gravel road when he lost control of the vehicle.

The truck overcorrected, sending the car rolling into the ditch. No visible injuries were sustained by the driver or any passengers, but the driver did admit to drinking earlier that night. After performing a field sobriety test it was determined he was not still intoxicated enough to be charged with DUI, but he and another male passenger were cited for minor in possession after deputies learned he had been drinking as well.
