GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Gillette area is expected to see regions of heavy smoke as nearby wildfires burn on Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, Gillette will see a high of around 88 degrees and blustery wind gusts ranging from 17 mph during the day to 30 mph tonight.
Chances of showers or thunderstorms are possible on Friday after noon, with highs in the upper 80s and gusts of up to 29 mph.
Blustery winds will continue over the weekend, the NWS in Rapid City said. Wind gusts of 32 mph on Saturday and 25 mph on Sunday are likely. The high will be 92 degrees on Saturday and 80 degrees on Sunday.
Fire conditions will range from elevated currently to critical over the weekend.
