GILLETTE, Wyo. — Two seats on the Town of Wright Council were up for grabs this year. Three candidates ran for the seats. In full-count official results from the Campbell County Clerk’s office, Jason Lembke, Doug Schrader and Crystal O’Bryan will be advancing to the general election. See below for a breakdown of votes.
2024 Primary Election – Town of Wright Council (four-year term, two seats available):
- Doug Schrader: 183 votes (49.19%)
- Jason Lembke: 149 votes (40.05%)
- Crystal O’Bryan: 38 votes (10.21%)
Schrader, a former math teacher at Wright Junior Senior High School, has served on the Wright Town Council for eight years since his retirement from teaching. In a questionnaire response to County 17, he said he sought reelection to see projects that were started during his tenure completed.
Lembke, a longtime Wright resident, has worked in Parks and Recreation for over a decade. He currently works for the Wright Recreation Center and coaches basketball at Wright Junior Senior High School. He was previously appointed to the Wright Council to fill a vacancy.
O’Bryan currently works for the Campbell County Library system and runs the nonprofit Helping Hands of Wright, which organizes events such as clothing swaps and a mobile food pantry for the community. She said in her questionnaire that she sought a seat to give lower and middle-income community members more of a voice in local government.
O’Bryan, who earned 38 votes Tuesday, will also advance due to election requirements, which allow twice the number of candidates per seat available. Since two seats are available on the Town of Wright Council, four candidates are allowed to advance without being cut off in the primary. This means all three candidates will be on the ballot in November.
