GILLETTE, Wyo. — Two seats on the Campbell County Board of Commissioners were up for grabs this year. In full-count official results from the Campbell County Clerk’s office, Incumbent Bob Jordan and Jerry R. Means won seats and will advance to the general election in November. See below for a breakdown of votes.
2024 Primary Election – Campbell County Commissioner (four-year term, two seats available):
- Jerry R. Means (R): 4,118 votes (33.57%)
- Bob Jordan (R, incumbent): 3,073 votes (25.05%)
- Larry D. Steiger (R): 2,613 votes (21.30%)
- Troy Castleberry (R): 2,361 votes (19.24%)
Note: Tom Simons initially filed to run for a seat, but withdrew. His name was not included on ballots Tuesday.
The incumbent in the race, Jordan was first elected to fill a vacancy on the board earlier in 2024. He was a board member for two county boards and had also previously served in a variety of corporate and nonprofit entrepreneurial positions prior to government service. In a pre-election questionnaire response to County 17, he also mentioned he had served in an engineering unit of the U.S. Army in the 1980s.
Means, who currently serves on the Campbell County Land Board, won a majority of votes Tuesday, surpassing Jordan by 1,045 votes. Means previously co-owned companies in construction and energy production and, like Jordan, is now retired. In his questionnaire, Means said he would resign from the Land Board if elected.

An additional vacancy on the board was created earlier this month by the resignation of Commissioner Butch Knutson. In accordance with state statute, his replacement will be selected from applicants within the Campbell County Republican Party. Selection from three finalists will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. See here for more details.
