GILLETTE, Wyo. — With the first day of school right around the corner, there’s plenty to do in Gillette this weekend to bid farewell to summer vacation. See below for a roundup of events for Friday, Aug. 16, and check out County 17’s events calendar for more upcoming events.

AVA Community Art Center Summer Bash

Celebrate local art at this year’s Summer Bash at the AVA Community Art Center. Starting at 5:30, the event will include an auction and live music from Muskrat Monarchy while serving up tacos. The event is taking place at 509 W. 2nd St. in Gillette.

Frontier Auto Museum Open Mic Night

Kicking off at 6 p.m. Friday, this open mic night is open to all takers looking to perform. The museum is equipped with a speaker system and microphones for performers to use during their set. This event is free for both the audience and performers and will run from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at 205 S. Ross Ave. in Gillette.

Cinema Under the Stars

Watch “Kung Fu Panda 4” in the great outdoors at the third annual Cinema Under the Stars event, put on by the Visitation and Advocacy Center at Dalbey Memorial Park. The movie will begin after dark, with yard games and food available beforehand for attendees. This event is taking place at 900 Edwards St. in Gillette.

Comedian Lauren Brenner at Big Lost Meadery and Brewery

California-based comedian Lauren Brenner is headlining a Friday night set at Big Lost. The show begins at 8 p.m. and tickets start at $15. The event will take place at 105 S. Warren Ave. in Gillette.
