GILLETTE, Wyo. — After an eventful week in Gillette, updated graphics from the International Pathfinders website indicate the group may be back for more in 2029.

Despite disruptive storms throwing many campers from the 2024 International Pathfinder Camporee into disarray during their time in Gillette, the damage also brought attendees closer to the local community during their stay.

Many in Gillette rallied to help the campers replace damaged items following fierce thunderstorms that left campers with damaged tents and other belongings. The generosity left an impression on campers, with a headline from their in-camp newspaper declaring Gillette the “Five-Star Community.”

Although the final performance of their stay was moved up to Aug. 9 due to weather concerns, other activities such as trash clean-ups and a world record-setting school supply drive went off without a hitch. The group’s time in Gillette seems to have gone so well, in fact, that it is aiming for a return for its next gathering.

Website graphics and tips sent from attendees indicate the group plans on returning to Gillette for their 2029 Stand Strong International Pathfinder Camporee. However, no full press release or announcement on the topic has been listed on their website.

Header and footer graphics on the Camporee website have been updated for 2029, declaring the future event dates as Aug. 6–12 of that year. Next to a link to view event livestreams, the site’s top border reads, “Join Us for the 2029 Camporee in Gillette, Wyoming!”

A countdown clock on the site marking 1,817 days from the next Camporee event also lists Gillette as the next location. Other online evidence suggests that the group has chosen to work with CAM-PLEX, its 2024 host, again as well.

Staff at CAM-PLEX could not be reached Wednesday to confirm whether the group had re-booked their services, but the calendar on the event center’s website did have the 2029 dates marked off for the event.

This is a developing story, and details may change as more information becomes available.
