GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Aug. 12, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Trespassing, Aug. 12, South Burma Avenue, GPD

A 38-year-old woman was arrested for trespassing after she reportedly refused to leave Campbell County Health following her discharge around 8:44 a.m., Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said. The woman refused to speak with officers when they arrived and shook her head “no” when they asked her multiple times to leave. She was ultimately taken into custody.

Property destruction, Aug. 12, West 12th Street, GPD

Officers were dispatched to a daycare facility on West 12th Street after staff called to report damage to the facility’s school bus around 9:46 a.m., Wasson said. According to the report, someone covered the school bus with black spray paint, resulting in under $1,000 in damage.

Theft, Aug. 12, Hannum Road, CCSO

Deputies responded to Hannum Road at 12:13 p.m. to investigate a 45-year-old woman’s theft report, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. Two black rims with green pinstriping, a PlayStation 4 and a red light-up Rolex watch encased in a mahogany box were stolen from a parked camper. The items were valued at $26,700, and the investigation is ongoing.

Theft, Aug. 12, East Lakeway Road, GPD

A 57-year-old man called the police at 2:10 p.m. to report being scammed out of $1,060 after leaving a store on East Lakeway Road, Wasson said. The man said he left the store and was approached by three individuals who said they wanted to sell him some jewelry. According to the report, the man paid the money in exchange for two necklaces, two rings and two watches that were all found to be fake. The man told officers that all three individuals had dark complexions and were in a black Lexus with Illinois registration.
