GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, Aug. 8, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.
Family Fight, Aug. 8, Red Stone Road, CCSO
Deputies responded to a call reporting a family fight that occurred while the family was in a 2023 white Ram truck. The call was made by a 13-year-old daughter in the family who reported her father, 52, had struck her mother, 50, in the face during an argument in the car. Deputies responded after the family had returned home and met in the driveway of the residence, where they spoke with the 13-year-old and another daughter, 16. Officers also observed blood marking the front windshield and center console of the truck as well as the clothing of the woman, who did not receive any medical treatment for her injuries. The man was arrested for domestic battery.
Destruction of Property, Aug. 8, GPD
Multiple homeowners within the area of Estes Lane and Arcadia Avenue reported various levels of property destruction following a rash of incidents overnight earlier this week where several teenagers were caught on security footage throwing bottles and rocks at homes. Multiple people reported broken windows from the incidents, estimated damage totaling $250 per window. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
DUI, Aug. 8, Cedar Creek Drive, GPD
Officers responded to the 1600 block of Cedar Creek Drive after a woman called to report two intoxicated men had knocked on her door seeking help after crashing an ATV. The woman, 43, reported that she had watched one man push the crashed ATV into a garage afterward. When making contact with the 34-year-old man, officers noted he had blood on his clothing and was visibly intoxicated. Though he initially denied being involved, he eventually told officers he had been driving and showed them the damaged vehicle. He was arrested for DUI.
