GILLETTE, Wyo. — A respite from the recent weeks of heat will come with potential storm chances this week in Campbell County.
Today’s high will be near 74 degrees. While the day will start off mostly sunny, by 2 p.m. there will be a 20% chance for thunderstorms. That will increase to 30% tonight as the low falls to 49 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota. Winds today will come from the north at 8–18 mph and increase to 13–18 mph tonight. Gusts could reach 25 mph.
Thursday will start off with a 40% chance of showers that will become a 20% chance for thunderstorms in the afternoon. The high will max out around 64 degrees before falling to a low of 48. Rain chances dry up for a few hours Thursday night, but a 20% chance for overnight thunderstorms will kick in around midnight.
Friday too will see morning rain chances, albeit at 20%. That will last into the afternoon, when it turns into a 20% chance for thunderstorms. The forecast high is 69. The low will be near 50 as the evening sets up similar to Thursday for rain chances.
Saturday will see a continued 20% chance for rain all day long as temperatures rebound to a high of 77. Rain chances remain consistent into Saturday night while the low is forecast to drop to 54.
A slight chance for rain remains part of the forecast through Tuesday. Sunday will see a high near 79, followed by 82 on Monday and 86 on Tuesday as warmer air returns to northeast Wyoming. Overnight lows will be in the mid-50s.
