GILLETTE, Wyo. — Lingering haze may clear out today courtesy of northwest winds as cooler air limits the high temperature.
That cool front pushed into the region last night, and while the skies should clear for a sunny day, the high temperature will be near 83 for Gillette. Tonight should remain mostly clear as well. The low will be near 57.
Warmer air returns Thursday through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota. Thursday’s high returns to the 90s at 92 under sunny skies. There’ll be a south breeze of around 5–8 mph. Thursday night skies will be mostly clear as the low falls to around 62.
Not much will change Friday and Saturday. Friday will be hot at 98 degrees, followed by 97 on Saturday. Both days will feature clear, sunny skies and a light southern wind at 7–10 mph. Friday night will see the low drop to around 64. Saturday’s low will be near 67.
Sunday should see partly sunny skies, but that won’t stop the high from reaching 94. The clouds will foreshadow days of storm chances, which will begin Sunday evening before midnight. The low will be around 62.
Monday and Tuesday will begin mostly sunny and feature afternoon thunderstorm chances. Highs will be in the mid- to upper 80s.
