GILLETTE, Wyo. — Here is a summary of notable crimes in and around Gillette yesterday, July 30, obtained through law enforcement reports compiled by the Gillette Police Department and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  

Crash, July 30, Highway 50, CCSO, WHP

Deputies responded to a pickup versus semi-tractor crash on Highway 50 around 8:55 a.m., Reynolds said. When they arrived, they found a pickup with heavy front-end damage on Highway 50 near mile marker 35, as well as a semi-tractor high-centered in a field. No injuries were reported, and the crash investigation was turned over to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Drugs, July 30, Teton Circle, CCSO

Deputies arrested a 54-year-old man for misdemeanor drug possession after responding to reports of a former tenant trespassing and breaking into a residence on Teton Circle around 10:41 a.m., Reynolds said. While speaking with the man, deputies were granted consent to search his property, uncovering two THC vape cartridges. They issued him a trespass notice and took him into custody.

Drugs, July 30, Highway 59, GPD

Gillette officers arrested a 23-year-old man on a warrant and charged him with meth possession at a fueling station on Highway 59 around 12:46 p.m., Wasson said. The initial report stated the man was unconscious in a 2009 Pontiac. The man admitted to having methamphetamine, and officers located 1 gram in addition to paraphernalia. He was also charged with violating the terms of his probation.

Crash, July 30, Edwards Street, GPD

An 18-year-old woman reportedly struck a puppy with her 2022 Ford at the Gillette Fishing Lake around 6:26 p.m., Wasson said. According to witnesses, the woman was traveling between 10 and 30 mph when the dog ran out in front of her. The dog succumbed to its injuries at the scene and no citations were issued.

Drugs, July 30, Highway 50, CCSO

A 45-year-old man was arrested for marijuana possession following a traffic stop on Highway 50 near Ledoux Avenue around 10:38 p.m., Reynolds said. The man was speeding 55 mph in a 45-mph zone in a 2022 Mercedes van. During the stop, a deputy could smell the odor of marijuana and searched the vehicle, ultimately seizing 7.5 grams.

Property destruction, July 31, Trails Circle, GPD

Someone reportedly smeared feces on a 30-year-old woman’s 2018 Nissan Pathfinder on Trails Circle. She discovered it around 5:58 a.m. today, Wasson said, and cleanup costs were estimated at around $12. The investigation is ongoing.
