GILLETTE, Wyo. — Smoke from Canadian and area wildfires will continue to keep skies hazy this week as temperatures return to the 90s.
The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, says today’s high will be 92 under sunny skies. There’ll be a south wind at 9–13 mph that will shift to the west this afternoon. Gusts could reach 20 mph. Haze will continue into tonight as the low drops to around 61.
Widespread haze is expected to continue Tuesday as the high makes its way to 94. Sunny skies are expected along with a southwest wind at 9–13 mph. Tuesday night skies should be mostly cloudy. The low will be near 57.
Elevated fire weather conditions are expected over northeast Wyoming on both days, meteorologists said in the forecast discussion.
A cool front is expected Tuesday night that will limit Wednesday’s high to around 83, marking the coolest day of the week in the forecast period. Sunny skies are expected, and they will remain mostly clear well into the night as the low falls to around 58.
Bright and sunny skies are forecast for Thursday and Friday as temperatures again rise into the 90s. Thursday’s high will be near 93 while Friday’s is forecast at 96. Saturday and Sunday should see highs of 95. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid-60s.
