GILLETTE, Wyo. — The City of Gillette Animal Shelter is inundated with kittens, and it’s reaching out to the community to help them find forever homes.

The shelter put out a call for help in a Facebook post on Monday, saying it is in desperate need of foster homes for multiple groups of young kittens. Several previous foster homes are currently not able to take pets, the shelter said, increasing the foster need for both dogs and cats.

For those interested in fostering, all supplies needed to care for the kittens are provided by the shelter; all that is needed from a foster home is a safe environment for the kittens to grow up until they are old enough to be adoptable, according to the post.

In addition to seeking foster homes for kittens, the shelter is also currently running an Empty The Shelter Event for adoptable dogs in its care.

In an effort to get animals adopted and also make space in the shelter, all dogs are eligible to be adopted on a “name your fee” basis. All animals are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and spayed or neutered. The event is sponsored by the Bissell Pet Foundation and runs until July 31.

The shelter is open six day a week. Excluding Wednesdays, the shelter is open during the week from 1 to 5 p.m. and from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
