GILLETTE, Wyo. — Deputies arrested a man for felony aggravated assault early this morning after he reported himself for stabbing another man with a knife in Wright, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said Wednesday.
The man was identified as a 23-year-old resident who called deputies to Wagon Wheel Drive in Wright at 12:51 a.m. July 17 reporting he stabbed a 33-year-old man whom he found in bed with his 20-year-old girlfriend earlier that night, per Reynolds.
According to the report, the 23-year-old left but later returned and threatened to throw the girlfriend’s items out. He locked them both out of the residence and a verbal argument turned physical when the 23-year-old opened the door.
He reportedly swung a knife at the 33-year-old , striking him in the arm and starting a wrestling match. The 23-year-old swung again, striking the 33-year-old in the ribcage, Reynolds said.
Shortly after they separated, the 23-year-old man called deputies to report what he had done, and he was taken into custody when they arrived. The 33-year-old declined medical treatment, and the report did not contain details of the knife allegedly used in the assault, per Reynolds.
