Brett Donald Fifer

Brett Donald Fifer: 1980 – 2024

Brett Donald Fifer was born March 9, 1980 to Brett William and Donnie June (Martin) Fifer in Douglas, Wyoming.  He was raised in Glenrock, Wyoming where he graduated high school in 1998.  He later moved to Michigan where he began a career as a truck driver for O & W, Inc. 

In 2009, Brett was married to Jaclyn Michelle Hickman. They made their home in Milan, Michigan where they raised their Boxer, Law and their Westie Diva, Aberdeen. He lost his life on Jan. 1, 2024 to Influenza A and pneumonia.

Brett leaves behind his parents, Donnie June and Thorvan Patten, of Glenrock, Wyoming; Brett William and Glenda Fifer of Arizona City, Arizona; sisters: Nicole (Derek) Eager of Glenrock, Wyoming, Angela (Nick) Richards of Fenton, Michigan, Karlene(Freddy)Escamilla of Marble Falls, Texas; brother, Chase (Laura) Fifer of Ypsilanti, Michigan; nephews: Mason and Brecken Eager of Glenrock, Wyoming and nieces, Veronica and Lorelei Richards of Fenton, Michigan; plus many aunts, uncles and dear friends.

Brett was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jaclyn; and his grandparents.

Please join the family on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Town Park in Glenrock for a celebration of Brett’s life.


Diane Lorene Coffland: 1964 – 2024

Diane was 59 years old and she was living in Gillette, Wyoming when she passed away at her home on June 29, 2024. She was born on July 22, 1964 in Lewiston, Idaho to Ronald and Lola Coffland, who preceded her in death.

After high school, Diane attended nursing school in Post Falls, Idaho graduating with her LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) license in 1992.

Diane served in numerous fields during her nursing career but her favorite was in the field of geriatrics.

Her warm smile and caring touch will be missed by many.

Diane was enjoying a career change after moving to Gillette working with senior transportation. She enjoyed her clientele and co-workers very much but had to leave them in order to have heart surgery in 2023.

Diane enjoyed her Boston Terrier, Jack, crocheting, reading books of all genres, sci-fi movies, and action TV shows.

Diane always had a decisive opinion of current events which coupled with her dry sense of humor, often lead to engaging debates. She believed in transparent equality for everyone and everything.

Diane is survived by her fiancee/partner of 15 years, Jane Thimmesch; sibling, BeaJay Davis; nephew, Trent Davis; sons: Nic (Kim) Thimmesch, Jon (Jenn) Goeders, and Dan (Brenda) Goeders; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Kathy) Gilbaugh, and Roger Rousey; nephews, Daniel and Steven Rousey.

A Celebration of Life event for Diane will be held at a future date to be announced.


Robert “Bob” Clarence Cornwell: 1943 – 2024

Robert (Bob) Clarence Cornwell 80, Gillette, Wyoming passed away surrounded by family on July 7, 2024.

He was the first child of six, born to Oscar and Eleanor (Harbaugh) Cornwell. Bob was born on August 8, 1943, in Dubuque Iowa. As a young boy, he and the family milked cows at various small dairy farms. He attended Garnavillo and other public schools within Iowa.

As a teenager, the family moved to Wisconsin and continued to farm. He graduated from Wauzeka High School. He met the love of his life, Marlene, and together, they moved to Wyoming in 1977.

In Wyoming, he worked in construction, building Campbell County Memorial Hospital, Campbell County High School, and built homes in the community. He then started working in the oil fields of Campbell County for numerous outfits including his own company, R & M Pumping, and went on to work for Devon Energy until his retirement in 2018.

In his later years Bob loved to build and add on to his and Marlene’s home, building decks, additions, and remodels. He loved taking Marlene to Deadwood; they shared many wonderful memories of their trips. They liked traveling back to Wisconsin and Iowa frequently to visit family and friends. Bob also enjoyed time with his friends and neighbors through the years.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Eleanor Cornwell, and Robert Lewin; father in-law, Carl Rounds; brothers: John Lewin, John and Roger Cornwell; sister in-law, Diane Rounds; children, Randy and Scott Cornwell; niece, Stephanie Schaub.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 44 years and 8 months, Marlene (Rounds) Cornwell; siblings: Bruce (Donna) Cornwell, Steve (Deanna) Cornwell, Brenda (Fred) Schaub; sons: Rick Cornwell, Doug (Billie) Caley; daughters: Kris (Jim) Stocks, Roberta (Murray) Lear, Lisa (Mike) Schwem, Brandy Wright (David); along with two uncles, Gene and Gary Harbough; and mother-in- law, Wilma Rounds. Also, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bob was a proud and loving grandfather (Poppa) to Jacob, Sydnee, Austin, Mickaila, Kurtis, Tayler, Mathew, Rylie, Anthony, Elizabeth, Reaghan, Garrett, Kennedy, Bob, Adam, Kolby, and Cody.

Cremation has taken place; a memorial service will be held at the Mount Pisgah Inspirational Garden in Gillette, Wyoming on July 26, at 1:00 p.m. Charity Stewart will give the eulogy. Please join us for an ice cream social afterwards. Bob will be laid to rest at the Ceres Church in Garnavillo, Iowa at a later date.

Kane Funeral Home will be overseeing arraignments. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Campbell County Health and Hospice for taking great care of our Poppa.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Northeast Wyoming Community Health Foundation.


Marilyn Jean Rousey: 1931 – 2024

Marilyn was 93 years old and was living in Gillette, Wyoming when she passed away at her home on July 10, 2024 as a Christian; she was a strong believer in Jesus and often said that she looked forward to her reunion with those who had preceded her.

She was born on March 21, 1931 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Arthur and Edna Chidester, who preceded her in death.

Marilyn was married to Willis Rousey from 1953 until his passing in 1997. Marilyn graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1949. She held several positions in the workforce, married Willis, had three children, and then attended McPherson School of Nursing, where she graduated with her LVN license in 1978. Her long nursing career in Kansas then lead her to Idaho where she and Willis fostered four girls.

Marilyn’s favorite field of nursing was working with babies. Later moving to Washington State, she worked as a supervisor for a community golf course. She returned to Hutchinson, Kansas to care for her ailing mother in 1997.

Marilyn enjoyed her little dog, Jazz, singing, dancing, playing cards, making wind catchers, and “adventures in camping” with her husband, Willis.

Marilyn is survived by her sibling, Sherri Bock; son, Bruce (Kathy) Gilbaugh; daughter, Jane Thimmesch; and son, Roger Rousey; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.
