CASPER, Wyo. — According to newly released park visitation statistics from the National Park Service, Yellowstone saw more visitors in June 2024 than in June 2023. Additionally, visitation for the first half of 2024 is up from last year.
914,612 visitors came to Yellowstone in June 2024 seeking recreation, compared to 847,864 in June 2023 — an 8% increase.
The number of visitors for the year through June also exhibited a 9% increase compared to 2023 and a 3% increase compared to 2021. 2022 saw a historic flooding event that, according to the NPS, closed the park from June 13 to June 21.
In the park release, the NPS included year-to-date visitation statistics through 2019:
- 2024 – 1,633,739 visitors
- 2023 – 1,492,843
- 2022 – 1,258,834
- 2021 – 1,587,998
- 2020 – 719,054
- 2019 – 1,358,629
Concluding the release, the NPS said that visitors should be prepared when planning to visit Yellowstone and recommended seeing the park’s “Plan Your Visit” page on the NPS website. Additionally, the NPS recommends visitors take the Yellowstone Pledge.
