GILLETTE, Wyo. — Gillette should see a hot, sunny and dry summer day as high pressure remains seated over the region.
The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, has forecast a high of 86 today under sunny skies. There’ll be a west wind at 9–16 mph that should turn to come from the north this afternoon. Gusts could reach 23 mph. Skies tonight will remain mostly clear as the low falls to a comfortable 58 degrees courtesy of north winds at 6–15 mph. Winds will turn to come from the south after midnight.
That warmer air will bring some southern moisture into northeast Wyoming that could turn into a shower or two Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday will start off sunny and reach a high of 88. There’s a 20% chance of showers in the afternoon as that high-pressure system likely keeps a lid on any big storms that could otherwise spark. Wednesday night skies will be partly cloudy. The low will be near 59.
Thursday will see the mercury rise to 92 under sunny skies. Thursday night’s low will fall to around 61. The sky should be mostly cloudy.
Those clouds will clear for Friday as the high returns to 89. West winds will shift to the north in the afternoon while a 20% chance for afternoon storms develops. Skies should remain partly cloudy overnight. The low will be near 59.
A sunny and warm weekend is in Gillette’s forecast, with a high of 86 on Saturday and 84 on Sunday. That’ll be followed by a high of 85 on Monday, if the forecast holds up. Overnight during the weekend, expect lows near 57.
