Temps enter 90s today with triple-digit Saturday in the forecast

GILLETTE, Wyo. — It’s hot and getting hotter in Gillette as high pressure remains over the region, allowing for warm southern winds.

The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, has forecast a high of 91 under sunny skies today. There’ll be a slight breeze of about 7 mph from the southwest early on that will turn to come from the east this afternoon. Skies will remain clear into tonight as the low drops to around 62.

Temperatures continue to rise to 96 degrees on Thursday and Friday. Both days are forecast with clear skies and partly cloudy nights. The low will be near 64 both nights, according to the forecast.

Saturday will bring some heat with a forecast high of 100 degrees. Winds are expected from the south at 7–10 mph with gusts of up to 20 mph possible. Saturday night should see the low drop to around 66 degrees.

Temperatures will drop some after that hot Saturday with a Sunday high of 97 followed by 90 on Monday and 89 on Tuesday, if the forecast holds up.
