Beverley Anne Sanders: 1946 – 2024

Graveside funeral service for Beverley Anne Sanders will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery with Pastor Marty Crump from Family Life Church officiating.

Beverley Sanders, age 77, AKA Mrs. Simonson to many of her art students passed away at her home with her husband by her side on Friday, July 5, 2024.

Bev was born on August 4, 1946 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Kenneth T. and Dorothy Lorraine (McCagherty) Stamus. Growing up she lived in Bismarck, Minot and Grand Forks before moving to Fergus Falls, Minnesota where she graduated from high school. After graduation she attended Mayville State Teacher’s College in North Dakota. She graduated with a degree in Art and German. During her time at college, she met her future husband, Dale Simonson. Together they had two sons, Timothy and Michael. Bev and Dale moved to Gillette in 1970 where they both taught school. They later divorced. In 1988, Bev married Mel Sanders -the love of her life.

Mel and Bev enjoyed their time together. They took a lot of road trips and traveled with grandchildren. A couple of cruises and trips to Disneyland and Disney World. Bev had to retire after 26 years of teaching due to illness. So, while Mel continued to teach, she spent her time doing art, crafts and taking care of grandchildren. Bev especially loved spending time with the grandchildren as well as the various dogs she had over the years. Bev was a bright funny person who was willing to help others. She also loved to read and try new recipes. Bev will be missed by those who have known her. 

Bev is survived by her husband, Mel Sanders; one sister, Lynne Stamus of Iowa City, Iowa; her two sons, Timothy Simonson and Mike (Trish) Simonson; step-daughters, Amanda McKey, Alanna (Matt) Williams; grandchildren: Ashley Simonson, Cole Simonson, Kendal McKey, Chance McKey, Daly Williams, Reid Williams and Laurel Williams; and her beloved two dogs, Muffin and Sonny.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; grandson, Kaden Simonson; granddaughter, Avry Williams.

In lieu of flowers several memorials have been established to benefit either Hospice of Campbell County Health, the Gillette Cancer Center or the Gillette Animal Shelter. 


Robert “Bob” Kenneth Zerbst: 1940 – 2024

Memorial service for Bob Zerbst will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2024 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Vicki Kissack officiating; inurnment to follow at Rozet Cemetery. Gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Gillette Memorial Chapel. 

Robert “Bob” Kenneth Zerbst, a man loved by his family and cherished by his friends, passed away on July 7, 2024, in Newcastle Wyoming, at Weston County Manor. 

Born to William “Bill” and Edna Zerbst, Bob was the oldest of four siblings; growing up on the family ranch at the Cheyenne River south of Newcastle. He attended 1st – 10th grade at the 7-mile school before graduating from Newcastle High School in 1958. The fall after graduation, at 18 years old, Bob found work with Claude Kissack Sr. hauling water. Bob was a loyal friend and employee to Claude even moving with him from Newcastle to Rozet and continuing to work for him for over 20 years at Kissack Water and Oil Service.

Bob worked hard and was very successful in the oilfield industry working both onshore and offshore for various companies at remote locations; the North Slope of Alaska, the North Sea by Scotland and Cairo Egypt then ultimately becoming his own boss by owning and operating Rochelle Oil and Gas. His strength and stature earned him the nickname of Bubba throughout the oilfield over the years.

June 22, 1982, he married the love of his life, Caron, and gained two daughters, Diana and Cindy. Throughout his life, Bob was a dedicated husband and father, always putting his family first, especially his grandchildren.

Bobs life will be remembered by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of many. Bob is survived by his wife, Caron; stepdaughters, Diana Anderson and Cindy Baker; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; half-brother, Glen Zerbst; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Zerbst; his mother, Edna Zerbst; brother, Leonard Zerbst; sister, Irma Wasserburger; stepson, Tom Martinez; and grandson, Jacob Baker.
