Days of increasing temperatures forecast for Gillette

GILLETTE, Wyo. — It took the summer heat a moment to arrive this year, but it’s here now.

The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, has forecast a high of 87 today under sunny skies. That will come with a west wind at 6–11 mph and gusts of up to 20 mph. Tonight’s skies will remain mostly clear as the low falls to around 58. Winds will shift to come from the north, but remain at about the same speed.

A sunny Wednesday will see the mercury climb to around 91. That will be accompanied by a south wind of about 7 mph that should shift to the northeast by the afternoon. Wednesday night will see some clouds but an otherwise mostly clear sky. The low will be near 62.

Thursday will crank the heat some more to a high of 96 under sunny skies. That will be followed by 95 on Friday, 100 on Saturday and 98 on Sunday. Cooler air is expected early next week, dropping Monday’s forecast high to 90. Overnight lows will be in the mid- to high 60s.
