Police investigating locker thefts at Campbell County Recreation Center

GILLETTE, Wyo. — An investigation is underway into a series of thefts reported from the Campbell County Recreation Center yesterday, Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson said Thursday. 

According to Wasson, all of the reported thefts occurred in the afternoon of June 26, with six residents reporting missing items and cash. Most items were taken from unsecured lockers between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. 

The first report came from a 36-year-old woman who said $380 was taken from wallets belonging to her and a 37-year-old man. She also reported missing other assorted items and told officers she left her belongings between 1:55 and 3:30 p.m., Wasson said. 

A second report was filed by a 16-year-old girl. Similarly to the first report, she was missing $123 in cash and other items, all of which were left in an unsecured locker between 1:40 and 3:30 p.m., per Wasson. 

Officers learned of a third incident when a 15-year-old girl reported $120 missing from her belongings in addition to a silver ring, identification card and gift cards. The items are believed to have been taken between 2:15 and 3:30 p.m., Wasson said. 

A fourth report was filed by a 44-year-old woman, who reported $1,700 in sandals, prescription glasses, sunscreen, a cellphone and miscellaneous beauty products, per Wasson, who added that the fifth report came from a 37-year-old woman reporting she was missing $13 in cash allegedly taken between 2:15 and 3 p.m.

Wasson did not state whether any suspects were identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
