Sunny skies to keep temps in mid-80s today, Wednesday

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Sunny skies and warm temperatures continue for Gillette this week, accompanied by some low midweek storm chances.

The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, has forecast a high of 86 today under sunny skies. There’ll be a north breeze at 7–11 mph with gusts as high as 17 mph. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low near 53.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high of 86. Winds will continue from the north at 6–15 mph with gusts reaching 16 mph. A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms creeps into the Wednesday evening forecast before midnight. Skies will be partly cloudy as the low falls to around 61. Winds will have turned to come from the south at 11–14 mph. Gusts could reach 24 mph.

Thursday will be even warmer with a high of 91 forecast. That will come with a 20% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms stretching until midnight. Skies will be mostly sunny. South winds will have sustained speeds of 10–14 mph. Overnight, the low will drop to 52 as skies remain partly cloudy.

Sunny skies return for Friday through the weekend, albeit with cooler temperatures. Expect a Friday high of 75, followed by a high of 78 of Saturday and back into the 90s on Sunday. Friday’s low will be near 44 while Saturday’s will be near 56. Sunday night has a chance for showers as the low falls to around 57.
