GILLETTE, Wyo.— After recently performing their own concert in early June, Rock Band Camp campers took the stage at Donkey Creek Festival on Saturday afternoon.

Funded by grants from the Campbell County Community Recreation District, the camp is a week-long summer program for kids in grades 7–12 with previous music experience, according to its Facebook page. Run by Campbell County High School band director Steve Oakley, students fine tune and improve musical techniques with a focus on rock music.

The Donkey Creek Festival stage was set up outside of Big Lost Meadery, the event host. Started in 2014, the Donkey Creek Festival brings together local musicians and artists for a free public celebration.

In a nearly hour-long set on Saturday, the teens took a tour across the wide spectrum of rock music with covers from No Doubt, Evanesence, the Foo Fighters and more. Kids swapped roles after each songs, performing either duets or singing solo with a variety of accompanying band members.

The set also included a number of costume changes coming with the closing song, a cover of Kid Rock’s 1998 hit “Cowboy.” For the finale, all campers joined the stage together, sharing the song’s various vocal and instrumental parts between them all.
