Cooler weekend forecast for Gillette after warm Friday

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Gillette is already starting off the day with a temperature higher than 60 degrees, and it’ll only get warmer.

The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, reported a 6 a.m. temperature of 63 and is forecasting a high of 79 today. Clouds fill the sky this morning, but those are expected to decrease throughout the day to leave sunny skies. Winds will come from the south at 9–18 mph. Gusts could reach 30 mph.

Tonight will see partly cloudy skies and a low near 48. North winds will pick up to 13–18 mph before turning to come from the east at 5–10 mph. Gusts of up to 29 mph remain possible.

Temperatures will cool some for the weekend for a Saturday high of 71 and a Sunday high of 64, both under mostly sunny skies. Both nights also will be partly cloudy. Saturday’s low is forecast at 49, while Sunday’s is 45.

Monday will see a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon after the high reaches 71. Winds will come from the south at 11–14 mph. The greatest chances for storms will be between noon and midnight, where the atmosphere will again dry out. The low is forecast at 50.

Warmer days are ahead Tuesday through Thursday with highs of 79, 85 and 83 under sunny skies.
