GILLETTE, Wyo. — Break out the sunscreen if you haven’t already: Sunny days are here to stay a spell.
The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, has forecast a week of sun and breezes for Gillette, starting with a high of 76 today. Winds will come from the west at 6–9 mph and turn this afternoon to come from the north. Gusts of up to 17 mph can be expected. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low near 55.
Winds will turn Friday to come from the south, bringing warm air into the region that will help push the high to 79 under mostly sunny skies. Winds will blow at 8–16 mph, turning in the afternoon to come from the north. Winds will pick up to 12–17 mph overnight as the low drops to around 50.
Saturday and Sunday will be twins with highs near 76 degrees under sunny skies. Both days will have southeast winds at 5–17 mph. Where they’ll differ is overnight, as Saturday’s forecast low is 50 under mostly clear skies while Sunday’s low is 52 under partly cloudy skies.
Monday’s high will be near 80 with mostly sunny skies, if the forecast holds up. Overnight showers and thunderstorms are possible as the low drops only to about 54 degrees.
Temperatures will rebound to 79 on Tuesday and further to 86 on Wednesday, according to the extended forecast.
