GILLETTE, Wyo. — Days of rays, that’s what the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, has in the forecast for Gillette and Campbell County.

Clear skies and warmer summertime temps are here, with some cooling expected this weekend.

Today’s high will be near 71, accompanied by a northwest wind at 5–10 mph increasing to 18–23 mph this afternoon, according to the forecast. Gusts could reach 32 mph. Skies will remain clear well into tonight, when winds begin to die to 13–18 mph and further after midnight to 5–10 mph. Gusts could still reach 25 mph tonight.

A clear and sunny Thursday should see a high of 80 degrees. There’ll be a southwest breeze throughout the day and overnight as the low falls to around 54.

That will be followed by a mostly sunny, 83-degree Friday. Warm air riding on south breezes will help to push the mercury up. Friday night will be around 52 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

Temperatures will fall a bit Saturday to a high of 76, followed by 74 on Sunday as cooler air from the north flows into the region. Both days are expected to be sunny. Overnight lows will be near 50. There is a slight chance of showers in the forecast for Sunday night.
