Drier, cooler weather comes to Gillette ahead of warmup this week

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Cooler weather today is expected in and around Gillette as a cool front pushes through the region.

The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, is calling for a high of 70 today under mostly sunny skies. Winds are expected from the northwest at 8–15 mph with gusts reaching 21 mph. Tonight will remain mostly clear as the low falls to around 51.

Warming temperatures will be the weather story this week. Drier air has filtered into northeastern Wyoming, meaning Gillette will be seeing sunny days as the mercury climbs back into the 80s.

Wednesday’s forecast high is 72 under sunny skies. There will be a northwest wind at 8–18 mph with gusts of 26 mph. Skies will be clear through the night. The low is expected to fall to around 46 with north winds at 13–18 mph shifting to the northwest at 5–10 mph after midnight.

Thursday will see sunny skies continue and temperatures rise to around 78. The low will be 53 under mostly clear skies Thursday night.

Friday really turns up the heat with a high of 84. Skies will be mostly sunny as winds come from the south. A partly cloudy night should see a low near 55 on Friday.

Saturday will continue the pattern with mostly sunny skies and a high near 80. That’ll be followed by a partly cloudy night and a low near 55.

Sunday and Monday will see the return of precipitation chances in Gillette, if the forecast holds up. Sunday’s high will be near 81 while Monday’s will be 74.
