GILLETTE, Wyo. — Gillette’s longtime solitary movie theater will be under new ownership, promising an updated experience through a statewide company based on a love of movies and theaters.
According to a recent news release, Foothills Theater will be the newest acquisition by WyoMovies, becoming one of several locations in Casper, Cheyenne, Laramie and Rock Springs.
With the acquisition will come a series of improvements, including new projectors screens, and sound projectors that should produce brighter pictures, clearer sound and more reliability. Additionally, the standard movie theater seats will be replaced with WyoMovies’ recliners starting in late August, with installation completed by Thanksgiving, per the release.
The lobby will also have a new look with plans including a private party room, lounge areas, a fireplace and new contemporary finishes, the release states, adding that concession offerings are to be overhauled to offer items like pizza, chicken strips, french fries and more.
“Depending on the availability of materials and contractors, this project is expected to start in the fourth quarter of the year with completion by early 2025,” the release states.
Ticket pricing will remain the same and moviegoers may still use the online advance ticketing option soon after software coding is completed, though advance tickets are immediately available at the box office, per the release.
WyoMovies pledges to honor previously purchased annual popcorn buckets, drink cups and Gillette Theaters gift cards less than five years old. Additionally, rewards cards may be brought in to be exchanged for a new Studio Rewards card, according to the release.
