Man charged with attempted murder on suspicion of cutting woman’s neck

GILLETTE, Wyo. — A 31-year-old man is charged with attempted murder as Campbell County Sheriff’s deputies believe he slit a woman’s throat on May 25.

On Tuesday, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said deputies were called to Hannum Road at 6:10 p.m. May 25 for a report of a woman whose throat was cut. Arriving deputies found the 52-year-old woman on a black couch in the living room holding a bedsheet to her throat, keeping pressure on the wound. Deputies saw a significant amount of blood throughout the home.

The man was found in the back of the trailer attempting to leave, but deputies detained him.

In their search of the property, deputies said they found a homemade knife that appeared to be a razor blade with black tape wrapped around the handle. They believe it to be the assault weapon, Reynolds said.

The woman is alive, but was listed in critical condition as of this morning, Reynolds said.
