GILLETTE, Wyo. — A felony charge has been brought against a 19-year-old man accused of pulling a machete on another man Sunday night, according to Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson.
D’Von Sjostrom, 19, is charged with felony aggravated assault and criminal trespass after allegedly attempting to use a machete to assault a 25-year-old man on East 6th Street around 11:01 p.m. May 26, Wasson said.
Officers were called to the address after a 21-year-old woman called to report several individuals in hooded jackets and bandanas attempted to assault her fiancé and a 27-year-old man. The 25-year-old man told the individuals to leave and then opened the door, at which point Sjostrom pulled a machete out of his pants and pointed it at him, per Wasson.
According to the report, the two men inside the residence managed to take the machete away and officers were given information to identify Sjostrom as the suspect. He was contacted at an apartment on South 4-J Road where officers found a machete sheath in a vehicle.
When asked, Sjostrom said he went to the East 6th Street residence to speak with the 25-year-old man following a physical confrontation involving the 19-year-old’s girlfriend. He admitted to pulling the machete and was taken into custody, Wasson said.
