Cue a warm, dry Memorial Day for Gillette

GILLETTE, Wyo. — There’s not much to the forecast for Gillette on Memorial Day, although potentially stormy weather will return later this week.

The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, has forecast a high of 68, up from an 8 a.m. temp of 52. Skies are to remain sunny and clear with a northwest wind at 14–16 mph. Gusts of up to 23 mph will be possible. Tonight should also see clear skies as the low falls to around 43.

Tuesday will largely repeat today, albeit with a high of 74 thanks to a southwest wind at 6–9 mph. Tuesday night will be breezier with winds picking up from 10–15 mph to 19–24 mph after midnight, but skies will be clear. The low will fall to around 52.

Wednesday’s forecast has clear and sunny skies before noon as the high rises to around 83. In the afternoon, there’s a 30% chance for showers and thunderstorms. Winds are expected from the south at 14–21 mph with gusts reaching 31 mph. Storm chances rise to 40% overnight as the low falls to around 45.

Thursday will see the sun return with some clouds. The forecast high is 64, and like Wednesday, there’s a chance for afternoon showers and thunderstorms that will last throughout the night. The low will be near 42, according to the forecast.

Sunny and dry weather returns as next weekend approaches. Friday should be sunny with a high near 70 while Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 79.
