GILLETTE, Wyo. — A sunny day: That’s what the National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, says Mother Nature has in store for Gillette today.
The forecast calls for a high of 62 with a north breeze at 5–10 mph becoming a west wind at 11–16 mph later this morning. Gusts could reach 24 mph. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low near 42.
Unsettled weather is returning to Campbell County for the Memorial Day weekend, though.
Saturday will start off partly sunny, and the high will reach 65. There’s a 30% chance for afternoon showers that will persist into the night and become a 30% chance for thunderstorms. The low will fall to around 43.
Sunday will see rain chances rise to 50% for the day, and with clouds and rain, the forecast high will be around 58. Winds are expected from the northwest at 11–17 mph with gusts reaching 26 mph. Clouds will begin to dissipate in the evening, leaving a mostly clear night as the low falls to around 40, according to the forecast.
Monday, Memorial Day, will be clear and sunny with a comfortable high of 66 degrees. Winds are expected from the west at 8–10 mph, and gusts could reach 17 mph. Monday night will be clear with a low near 44.
Tuesday and Wednesday will largely follow suit with warmer temperatures. The forecast high for Tuesday is 76 while the high for Wednesday is 80.
