GILLETTE, Wyo. — Nearly half an inch of rain fell in and around Gillette on Monday, and chances are that more is on the way.
The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, shows a rainfall amount of 0.4 inches for Monday. There’s a 50% chance for continued showers today with thunderstorms possible after 3 p.m. as the high reaches 51 degrees. Skies will remain cloudy, and winds will come from the north at 6–13 mph. Tonight will see a 20% chance for storms before 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy skies will clear, and the low will fall to around 37. Winds from the northwest will pick up to 10–13 mph.
That will set up a mostly sunny Wednesday for Gillette with the high climbing to 65. Helping bring the warmth will be southwest winds at 13–17 mph with gusts reaching 24 mph, according to the forecast. The temperature will drop to around 41 overnight under partly cloudy skies, and winds will die some to 9–13 mph with gusts of up to 22 mph possible.
Thursday will bring back those rain chances. The high will return to around 62 degrees, accompanied by a 40% chance for rain. Thunderstorms will be possible after 3 p.m. Where there are not storms, skies should be partly sunny. Winds will pick up after shifting from the south to the west. Morning winds of 10–15 mph will increase to 17–22 mph with gusts of up to 33 mph.
Rain chances continue into Thursday night at 40%, falling to 20% before dawn Friday. The overnight low will be near 33.
Friday will be mostly sunny with a high near 59 for Gillette. The low will drop to around 39.
A warm weekend is in the forecast with Saturday seeing a high of 71 and Sunday a high of 69. Whereas Saturday will be mostly sunny and dry, Sunday will be mostly sunny with a chance for afternoon showers. Overnight lows will be in the low 40s.
