GILLETTE, Wyo. — A wetter, cooler weather pattern is setting up this week, which will mean daily storm chances for Gillette.
The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, says today will be cloudy with a high of just 52 degrees. There’s a 40% chance for rain after 1 p.m., rising to 50% this evening and further to 80% as the night wears on. The forecast low is 39.
Tuesday won’t see much change, except rain chances rise to 90% as the high reaches 51. Thunderstorms will be possible in and around Gillette after 3 p.m., according to the forecast. North winds will pick up to 10–14 mph while gusts reach speeds of 20 mph.
For Tuesday evening, storm chances fall to 30% but will last through at least midnight. Skies will be mostly cloudy and will gradually clear. The low will drop to around 36.
Wednesday will bring some sunshine and a high of 65. Winds will come from the south at 8–10 mph, helping to warm Gillette after a couple of cool, rainy days. Overnight, the low will drop to around 42 under a partly cloudy sky.
Rain chances return Thursday after noon. The forecast high is again 65 degrees with a partly sunny start to the day. Storm chances continue into Thursday night as skies remain mostly cloudy and the low falls to around 36.
Friday’s forecast calls for more showers with thunderstorms after noon. The high should be near 60 while the overnight low will be near 41.
