GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Campbell County Recreation Center will hold an event in June to educate the community on how to keep children safe from drowning.
The event is part of the Keeping Kids Water Safe Campaign and will take place on Thursday, June 20 at the recreation center, 250 Shoshone Ave., from 9 to 11:45 a.m., according to an event press release.
Registration costs $5 per participant or $10 per household and will run from June 12 to June 15, per the release, which states the event is open to elementary school-age children in grades 1–6.
The event seeks to educate the community on water safety, especially for children who are at a higher risk of drowning, the release says.
“Whether you’re spending time at the pool or lake, come learn about water safety best practices that will prevent accidents and keep your kids safe in and around water,” the release states.
