Rain chance to accompany cooler high temp in Gillette today

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout Campbell County today.

The National Weather Service in Rapid City, South Dakota, has forecast a high of 59 today with a 40% chance of scattered showers. There is a chance the sun will come out later this afternoon. Winds will come from the north at 10–13 mph with gusts reaching 21 mph.

Tonight’s skies should be partly cloudy as the low falls to around 42. Winds will calm to 5–10 mph from the northwest, but gusts could still reach 17 mph.

Thursday looks to offer a break from the rain as the temperatures climb to 75 under mostly sunny skies. Some clouds are expected to roll in overnight as the low drops to around 47.

Friday will largely repeat Thursday with a high of 78, but there’s a 20% chance for afternoon thunderstorms lurking in the forecast. That will rise to 30% as the evening wears on and the temperature drops to around 39. Breezy conditions are expected as well.

Saturday will be a cooler 64 degrees under mostly sunny skies, while Sunday will return the high to 73. Saturday is likely to remain dry, but there is a slight chance for afternoon thunderstorms on Sunday. Overnight lows both nights will be in the low 40s.
