CASPER, Wyo. — Riverton police have arrested a man in connection with a house fire last month where a woman was found deceased.
55 year-old Vurnon Doney of Riverton was arrested at his home and charged with involuntary manslaughter, the Riverton Police Department announced in a release on May 9. Doney was booked into Fremont County Jail on the warrant.
911 dispatchers in Riverton 911 Center got the call to the 1300 block of East Main Street around 2:20 a.m. April 26. The caller reported that a woman was trapped inside the burning home.
The victim was later identified as 48-year-old Eve Newton of Riverton, and the results of the autopsy are still pending, police said Thursday.
Detectives were called in after signs of accelerants were found in the home.
Doney is presumed innocent unless proven or pleading guilty.
